Chapter 4 Question # 1

I believe that wisdom is something you can acquire with experience and knowledge is what you learn to gain the wisdom. According to Boss in the textbook THINK, knowledge is information or experience that we believe to be true and for which we have justification or evidence. Rationalists believe this comes through reason, and empiricists believe the truth is discovered through our physical senses. (97) Wisdom, is “knowledge of what is true or right coupled with just judgment as to action; sagacity, discernment, or insight”. In college, you gain knowledge that you will use in your life. Wisdom like stated before, comes with experiences, which deepens with the increase of age. The knowledge that we gain and acquire as we grow up helps us become more wiser and smarter. This is because sometimes when we experience something earlier in life, we may not have the ability to solve the situation but in the future when something similar occurs, we are able to connect the experiences that we have and know the conclusion that will change our lives.

  1. I like how you referred to the book more by having rationalists and empiricists as support and defining what knowledge is. I agree with you on how knowledge is basically information like experiences or facts. I also agree with how you defined wisdom as something we obtain through experience by using the knowledge we acquire. I think wisdom is how we approach and deal with things by rationally thinking and considering different situations that affect our choices and decisions. I kind of said on my post that knowledge and wisdom are quite different things but actually they overlap since you said that knowledge somehow can eventually lead to wisdom as we use that knowledge to solve things later.

  2. Hello Shortie,

I like how you analysis wisdom and knowledge thoroughly with clear definition. I think wisdom is how you apply knowledge in your daily life to make it easier. We are accumulating wisdom everyday, because wisdom is something that we gain from our daily life. Wisdom is so wide-ranging that it can be judgments while it can also related to attitude. On the other hand, knowledge is like the materials we learned in school and work. Both knowledge and wisdom are required for college students to make you to be a better person. We are in an era that knowledge and wisdom are so easy to pick up with in our daily life.

    Take Care,
    Adrian

  3. Your analysis between wisdom and knowledge was great and with the help of the text as evidence gave it clear definition for the two. I enjoyed how you used the two examples in the book with rationlist and empiricist to support the definition of knowledge. Just like in the book, I agree with the fact that knowledge is information or experiences that we believe is true while wisdom is through experiences and becomes much more deeper when we age. I agree that knowledge is what makes us wiser through the years because it is something we can connect later on in our lives.
